Who doesn’t like a great health app?
Even with the best of intentions, it can tough to figure out what’s healthy, because ‘creative’ labels and deceiving marketing are hard to sort through.
But add ingredients that are hard to pronounce (and even harder to understand) and the struggle can become overwhelming real quick.
LUCKLY, SOMEONE’S CREATED AN APP FOR THAT!
For me, making healthier choices with what I eat and what I put on my skin was the first step in balancing my hormones and tackling Graves’.
With nearly 2 million different apps in the Apple Store, there’s so many ways to use our small piece of handheld tech to improve our health.
So, I’m sharing two of my favorites of the moment. And the best part is, these apps free!
IN THE GROCERY AISLE: OPTUP
This app helps you make healthier choices where it matters most – at the grocery store.
It rates thousands of products based on their overall nutrition value, offers ‘better for you’ recommendations based on what you’re buying and even helps you track your progress.
I’m a firm believer that food can either heal our bodies or create disease. And for most of us, our biggest challenge when it comes to wellness goals is with food.
WHY I LOVE IT?
It’s simple: I’m all about healthier eating. And this app makes it easy for everyone to be a little more mindful of the food they’re putting into their grocery carts. Because let’s be honest, that food typically is what ends up on our plates.
I love that the rating system makes it easy to gradually choose better.
IN THE BEAUTY AISLE: THINK DIRTY
This app is one of the easiest ways to learn about potentially toxic ingredients in the lotions, cleansers and personal care products we use every day.
You can scan or enter a product name and get detailed info on the ingredients and the effect they can have on your health.
WHY I LOVE IT?
Toxic chemicals in skincare and personal care products are a real thing. And right now, there aren’t really any formal government regulations on toxicity in personal care products.
It only takes 30 seconds for the products we put on our skin to enter our bloodstream. I love that this app makes it easier to scan and track the products we use.
It doesn’t matter where we go. We’re constantly forced to make decisions that can affect our health. So, why not use our smartphones to help us make better choices.
